Wabash Presbyterian Church

Our Missions and Passions
Inreach

A key calling of the church is to minister in whatever way is required to the members of the body of Christ, especially those whom he has trusted to us with in our area. This includes:

Providing regular opportunities for weekly worship. The worship leadership plans the worship services that gives each worshipper an opportunity to come face-to-face with our lord Jesus Christ.

Training and education through application-oriented sermons, and through a vibrant Sunday School for all ages.

Encouraging each worshipper to find and use his/her God-given talents and monetary blessings to enable other Christians in their Christian walk and to enrich their lives.

Providing spiritual and physical support to people around us.

Outreach

We understand that Christ has called us not only to minister to the needs of the local flock, but also to those outside the local church.  This will include opportunities to serve believers and non-believers in Wabash county and in faroff places around the globe.

To this end the church is a regular contributor to local and foreign missions, and stands ready to serve anytime, anywhere an urgent need arises.

Upreach

We believe that the most urgent call in every Christian's live is to work toward being the kind of individual our Heavenly Father wants us to become. A person dedicated to Christ's calling will understand that living a life of active holiness must be his key aim. It takes practice for a Christian to hear and interrupt Christ's leading in his/her life. Spiritual discernment comes only through practice (study, meditation) and always results in purposeful action.

Through the years we have sponsored many Christians through two programs which aim to guide participants in developing their Christlike walk: "Walk to Emmaus" and "The Great Banquet."  With the help of many other people, the church has built a conference facility (The Bliss Center) that is used for conducting Great Banquets here in Southeastern Illinois.   Great Banquets have been held here since Spring 2008. In June 2010, Awakening weekends (for teens) will begin.  In addition, the Bliss Center facility is available to other area churches for their programs.
